CLIENT STORY: Native Spirits

Working with Native Spirits, a whiskey distillery in Brevard, NC, I learned that owner Shawn’s family had been living in WNC for seven generations. He wanted his brand to feel classic and traditional, blended with rustic and warm. The design created honors his Scottish-Irish heritage, as well as his home in Appalachia.

NS wanted a visual brand that would complement a space with leather chairs and dim lighting. At the same time, he wanted to convey a sense of community for a space where families could hang out together.

We blended elegant, traditional symbols of family, perseverance, and growth for a distillery logo that tells Native Spirits’s story.

The result: a brand identity design that’s rooted in whiskey distilling heritage and communicates the depth of Native Spirits’s journey

In the logo, the tree represents Native Spirits’ roots in heritage and culture, as well as growth and the distilling journey. The oak leaves are symbols of strength, knowledge, and family. The acorn symbolizes perseverance and passing on wisdom & stories. The branches and circle shape reach out and around, creating a sense of welcomeness and community.
