“The product she delivered is timeless. I don’t have any doubts about how my business shows up in the world.

I had taken my branding as far as I possibly could by myself. But I wanted a cohesive brand identity that wasn’t bogged down by my personal preferences. Alyssa showed up as a receptive, open minded, curious and kind professional, while also creating a framework in which I felt safe and welcome to share all the little bits that inform my business.

She delivered a brand package that has now been going strong for years, which has grown with my business and doesn't constantly need updating because it’s no longer trendy (which is what was happening before I hired Alyssa). The product she delivered is timeless because she took the time to truly listen.

It’s a wonderful blessing to have a brand identity that is rock solid; I don’t have any doubts about how my business shows up visually in the world and that takes so much mental stress off of my plate as a business owner. Plus, I get compliments all the time on my branding!”

“What we have put out into the world thus far has made us feel proud.

We were in major need of a brand to take our business to the next phase. We had met previously with several other designers and we had a hard time in communication and coming to an understanding on design. I really appreciated Alyssa’s knowledge of how to ask the right questions to get us truly thinking. I appreciated her communication and desire to get inside our heads in pulling out what mattered most in our branding. What we have put out into the world thus far has made us feel proud.”

Our Brand Design Process

Many clients tell me they were worried they wouldn’t like their designs, but instead they were blown away.

That’s not an accident.

My tried-and-true process is the result of over a decade of refinement. Every step has a purpose. By the time your project is complete, your brand won’t just look good, you’ll understand understand why it works and you’ll have everything you need to use it with confidence for years to come.

  • 1 — Connection
After you inquire, we schedule a phone call to talk about your business, challenges, and goals. You can ask as many questions as you need to make sure my process feels like a good fit.

  • 2 — Making it Official
Once we decide to move forward, a signed contract and initial payment will secure your project in my schedule. I only work on one brand or website at a time, which allows me to focus on your project throughout the process.

  • 3 — Strategy Meeting
Before any design begins, we have an in-depth strategy conversation about your business, values, goals, audience, positioning, and how your brand needs to support you moving forward. This strategy establishes an incredibly strong foundation for design, ensuring your branding communicates the right message and resonates with the right people.

  • 4 — Direction
I translate everything we discussed into a curated mood board to convey your visual direction. This defines the overall look and feel of your brand and confirms we’re on the same page before moving into design.

  • 5 — Design
You see two complete branding concepts that reflect the strategy we’ve established. These are two fully-considered solutions grounded in the same foundation.

  • 6 — Refinement
You select one concept, and we refine it together as needed. Revisions are intentional to ensure your branding communicates clearly, feels fully aligned, and works effectively to grow your business.

  • 7 — Delivery & Support
You’ll receive your final files and guidance on how to use them. My delivery process is focused on education and clarity, so you can confidently use your files as your business grows.

From here, I remain available as your design partner for any future graphic design needs so your brand can continue to show up professionally and consistently over time.

Meet Your Brand Designer

I’m Alyssa, and I’ve been designing brands and logos for my entire 10+ year career. Here are a few things you can expect when we work together:

Design done right

With my extensive background in everything from file formats to print production to website user experience, you can be sure that your design is built right the first time. That means no blurry logos, no “we can’t print this” from your printer, no scrambling to find Pantone colors that match. I learned the technical details so you don’t have to worry about them.

Strategic guidance

Your project is a collaboration. You can feel comfortable asking any questions and sharing any ideas, and I will never, ever make you feel silly. It’s your business. Alongside, I always have your best interest in mind, and I’ll always be honest and share my recommendations for how we can make your design most successful.

A long-term design partner

I don’t ditch you as soon as your brand and website are designed. Because my expertise extends across the entire spectrum of graphic design work, I’m here to help with everything from business cards to billboards. That means you don’t have to start over with a new designer every time you need a new design piece. I love getting to know your business intimately and working with you for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Branding Process:

  • Absolutely! I don’t require you to invest in both at the same time.

  • Your Branding project includes 3 rounds of revisions to your chosen concept, if needed.

  • I am grateful to say that this situation has never occurred. Because my discovery process is so thorough in understanding your business, my design solutions always fit your business incredibly well.

That said, if you didn't like either of the the initial concepts shown, we would regroup, discuss what is and isn't working, and I'd design one more concept based on your feedback, included in the original cost.

If you haven't yet, please take a look at my Branding client stories for examples of my thought process and design style. If these resonate with you, that's a good sign that a positive outcome would result from our collaboration.

  • In short, no, I do not use AI to produce any of my design work. You can read my full AI policy here, which outlines how AI is used in my business and what I ask of my clients when we collaborate.

  • Depending on your needs, we can add additional design pieces onto your Branding package.

After we finish your Branding, I also remain available as your design partner for any future graphic design needs so your brand can continue to show up professionally and consistently over time.

(If you’re looking to work together on a totally separate graphic design project that does not involve branding, please get in touch.)

  • My process is collaborative, yet allows you to feel comfortable letting go of the reigns while I do the heavy lifting.

During the duration of your project, I ask that you carve out time to be available for meetings and providing feedback on design proofs.

A note that I do require the business owner(s) and anyone else who will have a say in approving final designs (no more than 5) to be involved in the full process and present at all meetings. This is incredibly important to make sure everyone’s thoughts and feedback are heard.

  • The short answer: no.

The long answer: I focus on strong, professional, comprehensive branding, and my packages are designed to help your business grow, not just look nice. In order to be effective, even a simple logo is based on a thorough process and deep thought. And as your business grows, you're going to need proper files and a cohesive visual identity.

My process and deliverables allow me to provide you with branding that has longevity and meaning. I love working with businesses that are passionate about the process and excited for the results!

  • The short answer: no, I cannot give you concepts or work for free.

The long answer: because my design process is based hugely on learning about your business during our discovery meeting, I don’t start any designs until after we have that talk. Simply bypassing that process and throwing out a quick idea or sketch would never yield the same results as going through the process.

If you’re concerned whether or not you’ll be happy with the outcome, take a look at my portfolio and my process (above). My portfolio work is a good showcase of my design style and thought process, so if those things resonate with you, that’s a good sign that our collaboration would arrive at a great solution for you.

If you don’t like most of my other design work, or if you don’t feel like the process I described interests you at all, I'm probably not the best fit.

  • Because I focus on full brand identity design, I unfortunately don’t have time to take on projects fixing existing designs or executing other design ideas. My branding process includes an in-depth strategy meeting and creation of brand new design concepts.

If you have a design started that you’re not happy with, we would talk through what is & isn't working during your kick-off meeting. Through that conversation, we'd determine if it makes sense to build on elements of your original direction or move in a completely new direction.

  • Please see the answer to the above question, plus:

If you have some symbols or ideas in mind that you might like to incorporate, that’s great. We’ll definitely talk through those in your strategy meeting and determine if it makes sense to include them in your branding.

If you have a precise sketch or know exactly what you want your logo to look like, and you’re just looking for a designer to execute it, I’m not the best fit to help with that type of work but can recommend other resources for you.

  • My frank answer to this is that you get what you pay for. There is a reason that logos from online design gig sites (Fiverr, Upwork, 99designs, etc.) or from non-professional designers often lead to issues in the future.

To name a few, you risk:

    • Possibility of that designer using a stock image graphic for your logo instead of creating a custom-drawn design, which is often copyright infringement, not to mention is not unique to your business, and prevents you from copyrighting or trademarking your brand in the future

    • Possibility of that designer copying a logo from another business, which is not unique to your business and risks you getting sued for copyright infringement

    • Receiving generic, canned designs with no meaning, which don’t resonate with your audience and don’t help your business grow

    • Getting design that’s done quickly, but riddled with errors

    • Not having the correct files, so your logo shows up blurry on your website and printers can't print it properly

    • Not knowing your brand fonts or colors to create other pieces with the same look later

When we work together, you can rest assured that the expertise and care I put into your brand design matches the passion that you have for what you do, prepares you for proper use of your files, and helps your business grow long-term.
